Our shop was tasked with completing the body work, paint, and fabricating a fiberglass splitter for the client's RSR-style front bumper.

Overview

We initially created a mockup of the splitter out of plywood. This would give us the shape to lay the fiberglass on top of to create the splitter.

It's a lot of trial and error getting the correct shape to seamlessly follow the lines of the bumper. We successfully created the correct shape on our 3rd iteration (shown on the left).  Our mold will save us a lot of time the next time we make one of these.

From here it's all sanding and paint preparation.

The photo to the left demonstrates the repair process for fiberglass. If you have a low spot in the body or you need to repair it, sand down the area and apply more sheets of fiberglass.
